SEM SOP: GripTide™ Non-Skid Deck Coating
Colder weather is setting in and you may be thinking back to those warm summer days on the water. Now is the perfect time to plan ahead for the next boating season! If you're looking for a durable, non-skid coating with a simple application process, GripTide Non-Skid Deck Coating is an ideal solution.
Available in five colors, GripTide™ Non-Skid Deck Coating is a 2K high-quality urethane, grip-enhancing, textured coating that provides a durable, protective finish for boat floors, decks and other marine surfaces.
Learn to apply GripTide in five simple steps.
STEP 1: CLEAN
Clean with SEM Solve or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner. Wipe clean in one direction with a dry, lint-free cloth.
STEP 2: SAND
Sand substrate with P80 - P180 grit paper or a bed brush. Blow off with compressed air. Re-clean with SEM Solve or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
Mask areas you don't want to coat and tack clean to remove dust.
Prime any bare metal with GripTIde Primer. Mix 4 parts GripTide Primer with 1 part GripTide Primer Activator.
STEP 3: PRIME
Prime according to instrutcions below, if needed.
TO SPRAY GRIPTIDE PRIMER:
- Gun: 1.3 - 1.9 fluid nozzle
- Air Pressure: 35 - 45 psi for non-HVLP; 8 - 10 psi at the cap for HVLP
- Apply: 1 - 3 medium coats
- Flash: 10 - 15 minutes between coats
TO ROLL GRIPTIDE PRIMER
- Roller: High Density Foam Roller
- Apply: 1 - 3 medium coats
- Flash: 10 - 15 minutes between coats
STEP 4: PREP PRIMER
Topcoat primer without sanding between 1 and 16 hours. If after 16 hours, sand per top coat instructions. When topcoating primer after 16 hours, sand with P80 - P180 grit paper. Blow off with compressed air and re-clean with SEM Solve or XXX Universal Surface Cleaner.
Mix 4 parts GripTide Non-Skid Deck Coating with 1 part GripTide Catalyst.
STEP 5: APPLY GRIPTIDE
TO ROLL:
Use supplied Heavy Texture Roller and apply 1 medium wet coat.
TO SPRAY:
Use with the Premium Undercoat Applicator or the Economy Coating Gun attached to a Schutz Bottle. Apply 1 - 2 light coats with 15 - 20 minutes flash time between coats.
Note: Allow 8 hours before delivery, 24 hours for light use and 72 hours for full use.
