Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400 Post-Race Report

LONG POND Pa. (June 8, 2015) - The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) made its first of two stops in the Pocono Mountains, where Justin Allgaier drove a Hot Rod Black painted Chevrolet with SEM Products as the sponsor. Allgaier and the No. 51 team had three practice sessions during the weekend and qualified the SEM Products Chevy 30th for yesterday's race. Allgaier, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Saturday at Pocono, drove the SEM Products Chevy to the 20th position for HScott Motorsports. Yesterday's finish was Allgaier's second Pocono top-20 finish in three NSCS starts at the 2.5-mile triangle.

The green flag dropped on a chamber of commerce weather day at the "Tricky Triangle" yesterday. In the first lap, Allgaier gained five positions in the SEM Products Chevy. A long green-flag run ensued and Allgaier went one lap down on lap 46. He was just one position shy of being the beneficiary of the free pass when the first caution of the day came out on lap 49. Crew chief Steve Addington made the call for Allgaier to stay out on the track and take the wave-around, hoping for a quick caution. Unfortunately, the quick caution didn't fall and Allgaier was forced to come down pit road under green on lap 58. Allgaier radioed in a few laps earlier that he was fighting a tight condition in Turns 1 and 2. Addington made the call for fuel, four tires and adjustments to help Allgaier's handling. After returning to the track, Allgaier was in the 29th position. As luck would have it, the second caution of the day came out at lap 68 and the No. 51 SEM Products Chevy was again one spot short of receiving the free pass. Addington made the call again to stay out in hopes of getting a quick caution. Luck was finally on the No. 51 team's side, and while running in the 26th position the third caution came out at lap 86. Allgaier was the beneficiary of the free pass, and relayed to the team that his SEM Products Chevy was the best it had been all day. He visited pit road once again and restarted 25th on lap 92. Allgaier pitted for the final time on lap 123 while the caution was displayed. He received four tires, fuel and adjustments to keep up with the ever-changing track conditions. Allgaier restarted 23rd on lap 125 and battled through several late-race cautions to finish 20th in the SEM Products Chevy for HScott Motorsports.

Justin Allgaier on Pocono Raceway:

"I've always liked racing at Pocono [Raceway]. The track is so unique compared to most of the other tracks that we race on. I was really happy with how the car progressed throughout the race. We finally had a little bit of luck fall our way with the cautions, so that felt good. Steve made good pit strategy calls and adjustments on the car. I think we learned some stuff for the next Pocono race, which is really in just a few weeks. It feels good to bring the guys back at HScott Motorsports a car back without a scratch on it. They continue to work really hard back at the shop and at the track, and I can't thank them enough. I hope everyone at SEM Products enjoyed the race and I'm glad they were on our car."
